About me

Hi, thanks for your interest.

I have dabbled in short story writing on and off for many years. In 2020 I eventually published my first historical fiction novel –‘A Resolute  Child’.  The tale was inspired by Doctor Barnardo’s Village which was close to my home.  Research  is much easier now – with the internet – than it was when I began the story and is why it was finally finished. The Head Office of Barnardo’s still remains there in Barkingside. In 2003 I moved from Barkingside to Eastbourne in East Sussex at the foot of the South Downs National Park.

Also published are three collections of short stories including one just published. These have been inspired by word prompts, based (loosely) on real feelings or events and some have sprung from nowhere.

Currently I am working on my next novel which I will finally publish in 2026 and have titled  ‘An Enigmatic Woman’.

‘She joined their family…would she also tear it apart?’

This is a prequel to ‘A Resolute Child’.

An interview with me can be found on Spillwords under Jackie Harvey together with stories from my collections. http://spillwords.com

I was interviewed on Hailsham FM Local radio prior to actor Brian Capron reading my story ‘Family’ which was the winner of their short story competition. Brian played killer Richard Hillman in Coronation Street.

I have noticed that there are many visits here from the US. I have several stories set in the States over different times and am in the process of putting together these as a separate collection. I will send a free copy of this to the first two readers who contact me through the contact page with their details.
